With the growth of Commerce and Industry in Vilavancode taluk, Commerce Education gained significance .  The people of Vilavancode Taluk Felt the need of commerce education at the Post Graduate level also.  To fulfill their aspirations, Post Graduate Commerce course was inaugurated on 16.08.1993. Dr. Paul Vinaya Lal Wilson was appointed as the first Head of the Post Graduate Commerce Department.
