About Library

A library is a repository of knowledge. It aids in the teaching and learning processes by providing reading materials. It does, in fact, pique the interest of a non-reader in reading. Reading is a fundamental tool for living a fulfilling life. The primary goal of our library is to provide information services and provide users with access to print and electronic resources in order to meet the information needs of the college community.

The Library Block is named after Rev. James Emlyn, an L.M.S Missionary from U.K who purchased lands where Nesamony Memorial Christian College is built. The Central library is equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of print as well as e-resources. It is fairly large with a collection of 62300 volumes in all disciplines. It has subscribed to 35 journals as well as electronic resources through INFLIBNET N-LIST programme. The library regularly subscribes to 9 dailies, which are provided in three languages, viz. Tamil, Malayalam and English. The general reading room can accommodate nearly 100 readers at a time. A reference section is maintained especially for research scholars. Reference books and periodicals are available only for reference in the library.

Every staff and student in the college is eligible for membership in the library. On production of the Identity card at the circulation section, books will be issued to them. The books borrowed from the library should be returned within fifteen calendar days. If the book is not on demand, it will be renewed for another fifteen days. For renewal, the book should be presented at the counter. Each member is personally liable for the book he or she borrows from the library. Books must be handled with extreme caution

The automation of the library is accomplished through the use of library management software. The service is equipped with barcode technology to help with circulation. In the library, an OPAC computer has been installed (Online Public Access Catalogue). Users can find out the status of the books in the library using OPAC. Furthermore, the library has a Wi-Fi connection. Students can gain valuable information by using the Internet and multimedia resources available in the library.

Research facilities are provided to the research scholars, who are doing research at various colleges and universities. All the users of the library are given free and open access. Strict silence should be maintained in the library and reading room. No students will be allowed to belittle the academic atmosphere, which is the lifeline of the library. The Advisory Committee for library facilitates on library in equipping it in an innovative way.
