“AI in Modern Commerce: Challenges and Opportunities”
(NCAIMCO’25)
The Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Nesamony
Memorial Christian College, Marthandam, organized a National Conference on “AI
in Modern Commerce: Challenges and Opportunities (NCAIMCO’25)” on 30th
September 2025 at Seminar Hall II. The conference aimed to explore the
transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of modern
commerce, highlighting both its potential and the challenges associated with
its implementation.
The
inaugural session commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by a Prayer
Song rendered by the Department Students Choir, invoking a spirit of harmony
and inspiration. Rev. (Mrs.) Starie Princieal, Chaplain of NMCC, led the
prayer. Dr. C. Christal Pappa, Head and Convener of the Department of Commerce,
extended a warm Welcome Address, setting a cordial tone for the days. The
Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. G. D. Biji, Principal (i/c) of NMCC,
Marthandam, who emphasized the importance of integrating AI tools into commerce
education and business practices to prepare students for the digital economy.
Dr.
V. Viji Kumar, Organising Secretary, presented an insightful overview “About
the Conference”, explaining the objectives, scope, and expected outcomes of
NCAIMCO’25, followed by the Release of the Conference Proceedings, marking an
important milestone in academic research dissemination. A
total of 45 articles were received for the Conference Proceedings.
The Conference Proceedings of Abstract were
officially released by Dr. G. D. Biji, Principal (i/c), Nesamony Memorial
Christian College, Marthandam, marking the formal inauguration of the National
Conference on AI in Modern Commerce.
The
Keynote Addresses were delivered by eminent Resource persons. Dr. B. Muthu
Pandian, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, School of Professional
Studies, Sikkim University (A Central University), Gangtok, spoke on the theme
of “Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Business Decision Making.”
He elaborated on how AI enhances productivity, enables predictive analytics,
and transforms customer engagement in commerce. The second keynote address was delivered
by Dr. C. Seldev Christopher, Professor, Department of Computer Science and
Engineering, St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, Chunkankadai,
Nagercoil, who discussed the intersection of AI and technological innovation,
emphasizing ethical and data privacy considerations. In
the inaugural session, the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr.
R. Rema Mary, Organising Committee Member, who expressed gratitude
to all dignitaries and participants.
The
technical sessions were divided into multiple sessions throughout the day.
Session I and Session II included invited talks by the resource persons,
chaired by members of the organizing committee such as Mr. C. John Samuel and
Dr. P. Merlin. After the Lunch Break, the Paper Presentation Session provided a
platform for faculty, research scholars, and students to present their findings
on AI applications in finance, marketing, and commerce.
The
event concluded with the Valedictory Session chaired by Dr. S. Prabin,
Organising Committee Member. The Presidential Address was given by Dr. C. H.
Arun, Vice Principal and Head, Department of Computer Science. The Felicitation
address was given by Prof. Dr. A. J. S. Pravin, M.D., D.D., and
Correspondent-Secretary of NMCC, who commended the Department for organizing such
an intellectually enriching event and Participated and paper presentation
Certificate Distribution to staff and students, Dr.V.Sunitha
read the certificate details.The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. A. Joel
Keenes, Joint Secretary, expressing gratitude to the guests, participants, and
organizing team. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
A
total of 120 students and staff members from various colleges, including
participants from different states such as Kerala, actively took part in the
National Conference. Their enthusiastic participation enriched the discussions
and contributed to the success of the event, promoting knowledge sharing and
academic collaboration across institutions.
Overall,
the conference was a grand success, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue and
inspiring participants to embrace AI-driven innovations in commerce. It served
as a valuable platform for academic collaboration and intellectual growth.
The
Conference Proceedings Book was formally released 0n 04-10-2025 by our Correspondent
and Secretary in the esteemed presence of the Principal i/c and respected
members of the Governing Board. The event marked a significant milestone in our
institution’s academic journey, celebrating valuable research contributions.
The Head of the Department and Organizing Secretary proudly facilitated the
release, highlighting the dedication and teamwork behind the conference.
Faculty members, department staff, and the Students’ Coordinators actively
participated, ensuring a smooth and dignified ceremony. This release reflects
our commitment to academic excellence and collaborative learning, inspiring
young scholars to pursue research and innovation in their respective fields.
