The Research Department
of Mathematics, Nesamony Memorial Christian College, Marthandam, organized an invited
talk on "PDE and Method of Characteristics" on 25th June 2025 at 11:30 AM in the
Mathematics Computer Lab. The session aimed to deepen the understanding of Partial
Differential Equations (PDEs) among postgraduate students.
The event commenced
with the Tamil Thai Valthu followed by a prayer song, both presented melodiously by the II
M.Sc. Mathematics (A) students, setting a reverent tone for the gathering.
Ms. Benolin Jeni J, a
student of II M.Sc. Mathematics (A), extended a warm welcometo the gathering with a thoughtful
Welcome Address, acknowledging the esteemed guests and participants.
The Presidential
Address was delivered by Dr. E. Ebin Raja Merly, the Head of the Department who shared inspiring
insights on the importance of mathematical modeling and the relevance of PDEs
in real-world applications.
This was followed by a Felicitation
Address by Dr. A. Vijayan, Professor & Head (Retd.), NMCC, who appreciated the
department’s continuous efforts in nurturing academic excellence.
Ms. Jaffi J from II
M.Sc. Mathematics (A) introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. V. Pramanantham, Professor of
Mathematics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, highlighting his
academic achievements and contributions to the field.
The much-anticipated
Chief Guest Address by Dr. V. Pramanantham provided an indepth understanding of Partial
Differential Equations and the Method of Characteristics. His lecture was
highly informative, blending theoretical concepts with practical examples, greatly
enriching the students' academic experience. This was followed by a
Feedback Session, where the attendees shared their appreciation and thoughts on the
session.
Ms. Abinaya R, II M.Sc.
Mathematics (A), proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries,
organizers, and participants who contributed to the success of the event.
The programme concluded
with the National Anthem, marking a dignified end to the intellectual session.
The event was
efficiently anchored by Asha S. and Bernisha J. S. from the MC Desk, who ensured the smooth flow of the
programme.
