An industrial
visit was organized by the department of Physics on 17th February
2026 for the final year PG (Aided & SF) and UG students to the Vikram
Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and Priyadarshini Planetarium, Thiruvananthapuram.
A total of 75 students, accompanied by 6 faculty members, participated in this
academic visit. The visit aimed to provide practical exposure to space
research, launch vehicle technology, and astronomical sciences. At Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, students engaged
in interactive sessions with the guides and acquired insights into launch
vehicles like PSLV and GSLV, as well as solid, liquid, and cryogenic propulsion
systems. They further understood the different phases of rocket design, testing
procedures, and mission implementation. At the Priyadarshini
Planetarium, the dome show provided a detailed visualization of the
solar system and clearly explained how constellations are identified and mapped
in the night sky. Students also explored the science exhibition gallery
featuring interactive models and working displays related to astronomy and
physics. The visit was highly informative and helped bridge the gap between
theoretical learning and real-world applications in space science and aerospace
technology.
