Variety of programmes for school
students
The school
visit was organised by the department of mathematics,
NMC College in coordination with G.H.S school, Unnamalaikadai. The
purpose of the school visit was to motivate students, provide firsthand experience
of a school and promote personal development.
The
programme began on 01.04.2022 at 01:30pm with Thamizh Thai Vazhthu in Govt.
High School, Unnamalaikadai. Eight standard students and fifteen students from
NMCC's II M.Sc. mathematics department took part in the program. Teachers from
the school and three faculty members from the mathematics department of the NMC
College also participated in the programme. Dr.A.Vijayan, H.O.D of Mathematics
(SF), welcomed the gathering. The Felicitation address was delivered by
Dr.G.D.Suresh, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Nesamony Memorial Christian College. Mrs.
Rema, Headmistress, Govt. High School, Unnamalaikadai, gave the Presidential
address. II M.Sc students conducted mathematics puzzles aimed at popularising
mathematics among the school students. They also explained career opportunities
in mathematics and created general awareness about health and hygiene. School
students participated in the programme with enthusiasm and interacted with the college
students by asking questions and replying to their questions. At the end of the
session, the school students gave their feedback. A vote of thanks was
delivered by Dr. D. Nidha, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, NMCC. The
programme came to an end with the national anthem.
