The Department of History, Nesamony Memorial Christian College, Marthandam, in association with the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association, successfully organized a One-Day State Level Seminar on 24th July 2026 at Seminar Hall II of the college. The Seminar was started with Tamil Thai Vazhthu by all the participants. The seminar was presided over by Dr. A. J. S. Praveen, Secretary of the College, and Dr.C.H.Arun, Principal-in-charge of the College, whose presence added significance to the event. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. M. Glory Bai, Head of the Department of History, who welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members, research scholars, and students. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Lekha, Head of the Department of History, Sree Ayyappa College for Women, Chunkankadai. In her address, she highlighted the importance of historical research and encouraged students to engage in critical and evidence-based historical studies. The keynote address on "The History Emerging from Keezhadi" was delivered by Mr. Aadhavan Dheetchanya, Vice-President of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association and a renowned writer. His insightful lecture emphasized the archaeological discoveries at Keezhadi and their significance in understanding the antiquity, culture, and urban civilization of ancient Tamil society. The session generated lively discussions among the participants.The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Shyla Kumari, Head of the Department of History, Hindu College, Nagercoil, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged students to continue pursuing quality research in history. Dr. S. Jayakumar, Vice-Principal of the College, delivered the felicitation address and distributed certificates to the students who presented research papers during the seminar. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. J. Evangeline Sheela Bell, who expressed sincere gratitude to the management, resource persons, participants, faculty members, and students for their valuable support and contribution to the successful conduct of the seminar. The programme was effectively coordinated by the faculty members of the Department of History, including Dr.O.Reegan, Dr. N. Shanthi, Dr.A.Vinu Kumar, Dr. Jill C.R. Newbigin, Dr. C. Godwin Sam, and Dr.S. Chandra Megala. The seminar concluded successfully with active participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students, making it a memorable academic event followed by National Antham.
