Our
college demonstrates a strong commitment to waste management through a
well-planned and efficiently executed system. This initiative aims to keep the
campus and surrounding environment unpolluted, setting a model for both
students and staff.
Types of Waste
Managed on Campus:
Biodegradable and
Non-Biodegradable Waste:
Waste
is carefully segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories.
Biodegradable waste, particularly food waste, is processed in the vermi compost
plant located in PTA Block, MR 147, contributing to sustainable practices.
E-Waste:
After
segregation, e-waste is sent for recycling. A room in Dennis Block, E 260, has
been allocated for the safe storage of segregated e-waste prior to disposal.
Wood and Leaf
Waste:
Wood
and leaf waste are incinerated in a designated incinerator, preventing the
harmful accumulation of organic debris.
Sanitary Waste:
Two
incinerators have been installed in the girls' retiring hall and the ladies'
hostel for the disposal of sanitary napkins, ensuring proper hygiene and waste
management.
This
well-structured system highlights the importance of responsible waste
management and promotes sustainable practices across the campus.
