The
institution has taken proactive steps toward promoting sustainability and
reducing its carbon footprint by installing solar plants in the Main Block and
PTA Block on campus.
The
solar plant in the Main Block, located on the northern side of the campus, has
a capacity of 50 kW, with 10 ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) panels and an
inverter of the same capacity. Installed in *[month and year], it generates
approximately 75,000 kWh of energy annually.
Similarly,
the PTA Block, situated on the western side of the campus, houses a solar plant
with a capacity of 30 kW, featuring 12 roof-mounted PV panels and a 30 kW
inverter. Installed in [month and year], this plant produces about 45,000 kWh
of energy per year.
The
energy generated by these solar panels is sold entirely to the Tamil Nadu
Electricity Board (TNEB), resulting in a significant reduction in the
institution’s energy costs. This initiative not only supports the grid with
renewable energy but also provides the college with a financial advantage
through lower electricity bills. By leveraging solar power, the institution
actively reduces greenhouse gas emissions, minimizes reliance on fossil fuels,
and promotes clean energy use across campus.
Beyond
the environmental benefits, this project testifies the college's commitment to
sustainable development. It serves as a model for students and the wider
community, highlighting the importance of renewable energy. This initiative not
only helps conserve natural resources but also strengthens the college's vision
of building an eco-friendly, energy-efficient campus.
